Preparing the land for planting

American Forest Service visit to Tajikistan
From November 8 to 18, 2022, within the framework of the USFS project "United States Forest Service in Tajikistan"
Delegation during the visit from 9 to 15 November they visited the Fayzabad, Rogun, Baljuvon, Khovaling, Dangara and Bokhtar forestries for familiarization.

Participation of agency representatives in training on monitoring and evaluation of climate change projects
On December 6, 2022, as part of the support of the Green Climate Foundation, trainings on monitoring and evaluation of climate change projects took place at the Hilton Hotel.
At this training, methods were considered to support the Republic of Tajikistan in strengthening its capacity to monitor and assess climate finance, identify potential subjects of direct access and attract the private sector to climate investments with the help of the GCP/TAJ/015/GCR Green Climate Fund.

Saxaul seedlings plantation

For the last two months the project staff is engaged in saxaul plantation, involving the local labors.
Only in November 2022 the saxaul seedlings have been planted in about 111 hectares, which is unusual in comparison with the previous activities.
The main reasons for the rapid saxaul plantation are involving more local labors, the use of sufficient equipment and the long term practices of project staff in this field.
Despite the cold weather in December, the project staff is working hard to reach the project target indicators within the given period.

A planting seedlings on the Dushanbe-Vahdat highway
The Forestry Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with the Aga Khan Foundation in Tajikistan, within the framework of the "Envisioning green enviroment" held an event planting seedlings on the Dushanbe-Vahdat highway of Moyinkaj district on March 4 this year.
More than 120 employees of the Forestry Agency and the Aga Khan Foundation organization in Tajikistan participated in tree planting initiative.
This initiative's purpose is to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, prevent soil erosion and degradation and thus assist Tajikistan in complying with Tajikistan's programs, guidelines and obligations in the context of the implementation of environmental directives and conventions.
Totally 10,500 seedlings and trees will be planted in the area of 11.5 hectares within the framework of the "Envisioning green enviroment".

Meeting of representatives of the Forestry Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan with ACTED representatives
On April 11 this year, representatives of the Forestry Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan held a meeting with representatives of ACTED.
The meeting was opened by Nisa Sharifi, specialist of the project “Stability Mechanism in Cooperative Management of Natural Resources in the Fergana Valley”, and introduced the audience to the representatives of ACTED.
Deputy Director of the Agency Sharifzoda D.J. spoke about cooperation in the field of forestry with ACTED in the Zeravshan Valley, Sughd region, Devashtich district, about the construction of a nursery and a fruit processing workshop, which was put into operation with the joint cooperation of the parties.
Halimov Abdurasul - Regional Coordinator and Project Manager briefly spoke about the new regional project in Central Asia "Stability mechanism in the joint management of natural resources in the Fergana Valley". And he noted that this regional program is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will be implemented for a period of 3 year in the amount of 2.5 million US dollars.
The program includes 3 countries of Central Asia, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The main goal of the Project is to increase the sustainability of water resources at the local level and reduce competition for resources, as well as dialogue and cooperation at the regional, national and local levels.
It should be noted that 16 sub-basins in the Ferghana Valley have already been allocated for the implementation of the Project program, which are located in the Sughd region in Tajikistan, in the Fergana region in Uzbekistan and in the Botken region in Kyrgyzstan.

Festival in the park of culture and entertainment named after Abulкasim Firdavsi in Dushanbe
In order to comply with decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated January 3, 2023 № AP-318 and expand to the work of beautification and creativity, love for nature, increase aesthetic taste, ecological culture and popularization of national traditions, according to the relevant decision to the Mayor of Dushanbe, "Sayri Guli Lola" Flower Festival will be held.
Under the same name, on April 15, 2023, the Sayri Guli Lola festival was held in the cultural and entertainment park named after Abulkasim Firdavsi in Dushanbe, in which employees of the Forestry Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan took an active part.
We remind you that the main habitat of the tulip is on the territory of Tajikistan and there are 24 of its species of tulip. In the past, the Tajik people celebrated the annual festival, as a result of which this kind of flower spread to Asia Minor, Turkey, Holland and other countries.
The city of Dushanbe is considered as one of the pioneers of landscaping, gardening and floriculture in the country, as well as the unconditional winner of the “Sayri Guli Lola” competition of past years.
