Thus, at the end of the traditional "Green Climate Action Month", from 15 to 17 September 2022 at the ecological camp "Green Wood House" in the district of Hisar for 21 young environmentalists, involving high school students of secondary schools and students of environmental studies of universities of Dushanbe, an environmental camp "Young Environmentalist" was held, organized by the Committee on Environmental Protection (CEP) under the Government of Tajikistan with the support of the Regional Programme of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) programme "Integrated and Sensitive Land Use in Central Asia" (ILUCA) and the Regional Project "Technology based Adaptation to Climate Change in Rural Areas in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan» (TCCA RA), aimed to develop capacity and raise awareness among young people about environmental issues, integrative land use, and potential technologies for disaster risk reduction and management, in particular in protected areas critical for the conservation of flora and fauna.
During the two days there were lectures on integrated land use, technologies and measures for adaptation and mitigation of climate change impacts, including through the use of environmental goods (land, water, trees, etc.), as well as on the Comprehensive State Programme for the Development of Education and Environmental Education of the Population conducted. At the official closing ceremony of the initiative "Green Climate Action Month", Ms. Z. S. Kiyomzoda, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Ms. Sabine Olthof, Country Director of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Tajikistan made opening speeches. At the end of the event, certificates of successful participation were awarded to the participants.
The Regional Programme "Integrative and Climate-sensitive Land Use in Central Asia" (ILUCA), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by GIZ, aims to consolidate integrative land use management approaches at the regional and national levels, and improve implementation of measures of existing laws and policies in Central Asia.
